WHAT IS SHIATSU?

HOLISTIC BODYWORK WITH DEEP ROOTS

Zen Shiatsu or Shiatsu massage is a Japanese body therapy based on ancient Asian life principles and philosophies. In Shiatsu, the body, mind, and world are seen as one interconnected whole - where physical, emotional, and energetic aspects are deeply linked and mutually dependent.

The approach is mindful and sensory - with a focus on calm, balance, and healing.

LIFEFORCE ENERGY, NERVOUS SYSTEM & BALANCE

At the heart of Shiatsu is the body’s life energy, known as Qi (or Chi, KI), which flows through the body's meridian pathways.
When energy flows freely and in balance, we experience vitality, health, and a sense of inner peace.

Blockages or imbalances in the energetic system and nervous system can manifest as physical, emotional, or mental symptoms.

SHIATSU STARTS WHERE WE ARE NOT

the principle of Kyo

Kyo are the parts of us that we are no longer harmoniously connected with. Here we find the root cause to our imbalance and symptoms.

Two sentences my teacher repeated often, and that continue to resonate deeply are:
“Where were we not?” and “Back to the future.”

These speak to core principles in Shiatsu: Kyo - the empty, the hidden, the part of us that is missing, unconscious, or disconnected, and the continuous "return" to presence.

Shiatsu begins exactly here.

In meeting the parts  that have been exiled or avoided - a possibility for change arises.

It is often in these disconnected or unintegrated parts of ourselves where imbalance and symptoms arise.

By gently meeting these areas - physically and energetically - we have the opportunity to revitalize, reintegrate, and heal what has been separated or hidden. From here, natural balance can be restored and sustained.

A CALM &
MINDFUL EXPERIENCE

Shiatsu is a deeply grounding and sensory treatment that invites you to feel yourself from the inside out.

Sessions take place at a slow pace and with deep respect for your boundaries and needs.

The treatment helps your nervous system settle and creates space for a more profound connection with yourself – both physically and mentally.

Zen Shiatsu is for you, that wants to come back home to yourself.
